Khan Academy

www.khanacademy.org it is a personalized learning resource for all ages.  For free and for every one.
Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more.
It is a helpful site in education, which allows us as teachers to meet our students in the half road. It could be used to improve their skills in sciences, maths and arts.

This site is useful with students with special needs (ADHD and Learning disabilities) as i use, because the mission is about what they know and what they need to know. So, what you have to do is to select a mission in a specific subject , and begin.
Click the link above, and enjoy your exploring trip.

There is many ways to use it with your students.  For example i use it to collaborate a dialogue by specifying a topic and let students give there opinion in a critical way. And for students with special needs (ADD, ADHD and learning disabilities) i made the same but i specify also the student who begin, or finish or conclude. Also it's a nice tool to create a collaborative story.
be creative..and teach.

Mind Maps.. lucky to use

Mind maps is a powerful way to use while studying. One of the most benefit is that allows you to organize the knowledge and memorize the informations.
www.text2mindmap.com it is a free site allows you merging your infomations in an organized way.
We can use it in a wide variety of activities during teaching-learning process. For example this mind tool could be used to summerize a story by mentioning the main ideas and characters... it will benefit all your students. And i would advise you to use it with students with learning disabilities, ADD and ADHD, to help them organize their new knowledge in an easy way.
PS: give your students the opportunity to create the mind map by themselves.

Welcome to our blog

Henry L. Doherty said : “Be a student as long as you still have something to learn, and this will mean all your life.”
This  blog is for us as teachers thinkers of today, and the students-proudly- thinkers of tommorow, if they like.
We all know that every class is a blend of differtent abilities, attitudes  and talents..that's what inspired me to create this blog in the first place; ie. to help you -in what i know and in the margins of my experience- to reach out your students especially those with special needs (learning disabilties, ADD, ADHD), in order to corporate their minds and shake their brains.
"let's shake our brain" will include teachnological tools and strategies and the way we can integrate them into our class activities. I hope we enjoy our journey to shake our brains using stories, games, dialogues and drawing activities, which have the opportunity to improve the student's different skills.
I like to introduce my self, i'm Zahraa Hamdan, an Arabic Language and Social Studies teacher, and i'm preparing my Masters in Special Education.
Prepare yourselves for our adventure in brain shaking. I will be very happy and thankful to see your comments shaking in this blog. :)
